Way back in 1975 an entrepreneurial guy named Dick Spera decided to launch a precious metal refinery, primarily catering to jewelers from the Diamond District in New York City. He saw a real need to provide quality refining services to jewelers and gold buyers who wanted a full-service refinery located near Manhattan. As this wing of the business started taking off, Dick yearned to expand GRC as far as he could. Literally. He opened up an office in Fairbanks, Alaska catering exclusively to the gold mining community. Never wanting to focus on just one sector, he then created a gold plating division. Bringing his sons Peter and Paul on board, Dick gave them the industry knowledge and experience necessary to sustain the operation well into the future. Though we lost Richard back in 2007, his vision carries on to this day.
